Since its establishment in 1991 as a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, KETI has led the advancement of Korea’s electronics and IT industries for the past 35 years. Through pioneering research in national strategic technologies such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), KETI has strengthened the nation’s technological competitiveness, fostered future growth engines, and evolved into a leading institution in Korea’s R&D landscape.

Today, however, the world stands at a critical turning point marked by supply chain disruptions and intensifying competition for technological leadership. Like an architect designing the future of Korea, KETI must chart the course of industrial innovation and serve as a national technology platform capable of reshaping the global industrial landscape.

To achieve this vision, KETI is actively pursuing four key management priorities: advancing R&D in core technologies for future industries, accelerating technology commercialization in partnership with industry, strengthening strategic and responsible management for sustainable growth, and enhancing the global value of the KETI brand. Through these efforts, we aim to grow into a global technology hub that transforms the world through innovation.

In particular, we are transforming our R&D paradigm by focusing on large-scale, demonstration-oriented innovation projects to secure leadership in future technologies. At the same time, we are expanding technology collaboration through open innovation with Korea’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies. By creating a virtuous cycle of research, commercialization, and industrial application, KETI will further establish itself as Korea’s leading research institute driving K-Tech innovation.
